Marketing Works, When Done Right
We stumble across new brands virtually everyday. What makes some brands stick in a customers head over others? The answer, effective marketing.
Each day we are bombarded with marketing + advertising on social media, television, radio and magazines (to name a few). Everywhere we go we are exposed to brands and marketing. Below are some of our tips and tricks when it comes to marketing campaign planning + executing.
- Keep it simple. We see it a lot, brands doing a multiple campaigns simultaneously. If you are a little confused with what is going on and you are involved with putting the marketing together, your customer is guaranteed to be confused. Less is more when it comes to marketing - we recommend one streamlined message that is well explained and shared across platforms (social media, blog post, email, advertising, PR, etc.). Don't do too many back-to-back large scale campaigns either because that can also make things confusing and messy.
- Redundancy. We can't stress it enough, being redundant with your marketing campaign is key. Not everyone sees the first or second social post you share - make sure you speak to the campaign before, during and after to maximize results. You may feel like all you talk about is the marketing campaign you are pushing. You want people to associate your brand with the campaign. This does not mean write the same copy throughout the campaign. Keep things fresh and personal. Just don't be afraid to reemphasize your campaign and message.
- Have a Plan. If you are working on a holiday campaign and it is December 1st, you must realize it won't be as effective as a holiday push that has been planned months in advance. One of our favorite holiday pushes is REI's #OptOutside campaign. This was tactically planned and executed incredibly last year when it launched. Social posts, customer activation, emails, videos, PR features and an excellent hashtag with a great message behind it all. If you expect to have a campaign as successful as REI's without having a plan months in advance - there is only so much you can do.
